Warm Up Your Winter: Peanut Butter Cup Oatmeal

Is it cold out where you are? We had a week of ice here that shut everything down. I mean everything. Even Krispy Kreme.

When it’s bitterly cold out, I just wanna curl up with a steaming bowl of oatmeal to warm me up from the inside out. But I realize hmm, I should probably add a protein and hey lookie! There’s peanut butter in my pantry. And some leftover chocolate chips from making bear claw cookies.

This is less of a recipe and more of a Do This Nice Thing For Yourself. Don’t feel constrained by quantities, measure with your heart!

Peanut Butter Cup Oatmeal

Recipe by HRM Coupon QueenCourse: BreakfastCuisine: HomestyleDifficulty: Beginner

An easy way to dress up your basic morning oatmeal. The heat from the oatmeal melts the peanut butter and chocolate into a delicious bowl that satisfies and nourishes.

Ingredients

  • oatmeal

  • peanut butter

  • chocolate chips

Directions

  • Cook oatmeal to package directions. Whatever type you have: steel-cut, instant, old-fashioned, etc.
  • Add a generous spoon of peanut butter. Or two!
  • Toss a happy handful (or a sad sprinkle) of chocolate chips to the oatmeal. Milk, dark, even white, whatever you have at hand and brings you joy.
  • Stir together until additions are melted into oats.

Notes

  • It won’t quite be peanut butter cup, but I’m always a fan of mixing in Nutella in place of the peanut butter and chocolate.
